When I last posted the email below the reconnect issue did not seem to be
causing any problems, we have subsequently had some users reporting that
they cannot open clipart. This only seems to happen when the red cross is
displayed, if users perform a:-

NET USE H: /D

which removes the drive
then they preform a:-

NET USE H: \\SAMBASERVER\HOME <<file://\ SAMBASERVER\HOME>>

The drive is reconnected and clipart then works, does anybody know of a
solution for this problem.

Thanks very much

Subject: [Samba] Disconnected Drives Reconnecting but red cross remains on
share
I am running Samba version 2.2.8a, everything seems to be running great. I
have however noticed that whenever shares go into the disconnected state i.e
the red cross in windows, They still allow you to use the drives i.e double
click open files etc but the red cross remains on the resource and net use
at the command prompt also shows the drive as disconnected even though you
can access it.
Is there a way of solving this problem i.e to remove the red cross when the
resource is accessed that same way as it does on our windows servers.

Thanks very much in anticipation of a solution.
