I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but are have you got
your printers setup under cups or as lpr? cups is da business according to
my more knowledgeable friends, but if i add new printers to cups, i have to
restart cups then samba to get the winslows machines to see the new
printers...

Subject: [Samba] XP & 2000 Printer problem

I'm having a problem with my XP & 2000 pc's, with printers.

During the initial installation and configuration of these machines,
everything is fine. But any printer added to the network AFTER the
initial config of the winXP & win2000 pc's, isn't available to these
machines.

So... if I add any printers to my network, I can't use them with my
winXP or win2000 pc's. If I try to connect to one of the new printers, I
get:

"Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the printer name
was typed incorrectly, or the specified printer has lost its
connection to the server."

I even removed a printer from my network, and removed its printer
name from the "printcap" file. This printer STILL shows up in
WinXP & 2000 machines.

I've even restarted samba just for the sheer fun of it.

Is there some sort of "Cache" or something that stores this
information on WinXP or 2000 machines? Does anyone have any
ideas? It sure would be "Handy" to be able to add printer to my
network...

Thanks!
Ron
