[Samba] Can see Linux box, but no shares from windows

I can ping the server... by ip and even by hostname...
in linux, using jags i can mount the dirs i shared... so i wonder if the
permissions are a problem...
i set the username and the password to my w2k user and pwd, so that shouldnt
be a problem either...

somehow i think it's more a w2k problem than a linux problem... somehow, i
think, w2k cant resolve the samba hostname into an ip, i guess, or something
like that..
