[Samba] NIS+, Sol2.5.1, Samba

Hello list.  We used Samba a few years ago with excellent success and now
are
returning to it.  However, due to current constraints on the systems (not
our choice)
we are running NIS+ on 2.5.1.   And we want to have Samba use NIS+
authentication,
but can't get it to run on 2.5.1 with NIS+.   Is this a PAM issue, since
2.5.1 doesn't
support PAM. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
