[Samba] smbd and nmbd refuses to run

Hi.

Thanks for your prompt reply

It was a problem with the smb.conf

When I ran the testparm program it was reporting some error. But I have
had it eliminated.

netstate -apn | grep 139
to see if any process is listening to that port.
Have you tried:
smbd -d6
to see if anything useful shows up?
