[Samba] want to stop logging on 2.0.3

I'm new to samba so excuse this simple question.

I am running 2.0.3. My smb.conf file contains only the
following settings related to logging:
log file = /usr/local/samba/var/log.%m
max log size = 50
How do I stop the logging process. I've read the docs
and have tried a few things without success. I tried
adding syslog=1 and loglevel=0 but I started getting
errors on my unix console about not being able to cd
to certain directories (which I understand why you
could not connect to them).

How do I stop the logging process?

Thanks for any help.
