Odd...I tested with Samba 2.2.4 against a Microsoft Win2K WINS
server, and just confirmed it worked with the server's IP address
as well as its name.  Samba's running on a Redhat 6.2 Linux system.
I also confirmed that it works from a FreeBSD system querying
a Samba 2.2.4 WINS server, also running FreeBSD.

You might want to repeat the query with the debug level set
(-d 5, looks like it's enough), and see if you can spot the problem.
