[Samba] print jobs to a Windows connected printer disappear

Joel,

I thought smbclient would send a file directly to the printer bypassing any
filters. I was trying to print a simple text file called "test" (see my
original message for smbclient command). In general, I used KDE Control
Panel/CUPS Printer configuration to set up the following printer:

# Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.1.14
# Written by cupsd on Fri 26 Jul 2002 09:30:32 PM GMT
<DefaultPrinter Lexmark7>
Info Lexmark 7200
Location vstrecha.sushkins.net
DeviceURI smb://root:*****@vstrecha/Lexmark7
State Idle
Accepting Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
</Printer>

The Lexmark 7200 was one of the supported printers, so a ppd file got
copied.

[root at chistaki root]# ls -l /etc/cups/ppd
total 16
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        15337 Jul 26 17:30 Lexmark7.ppd

Do you I need to configure anything else? I am a little new to Linux
printing, so I am not exactly sure which way the data flows from filesystem
to the printer.

Thanks a lot,

Nick

This sounds like you are not sending properly formatted print jobs to the
server.
How are you filtering your jobs before you send them?
