I think that's if you move to Native Mode AND "permissions not compatible
with pre-Windows 2000 servers" when you promote the first DC.  Native Mode
along shouldn't stop it from working AFAIK (works with 2.2.5, at
least...I've tested it).

And upgrading to 2.2.5 would be a very good idea.
