hello,
i searched the mailing list archives some, but couldn't really find anything.
first off, i'll list my goals, then i'll describe what went wrong...
goal:
i have a linux file/print server. it uses cups 1.1.14 and samba 2.2.3a. i
want the printer to be publicly accessable by any computer (linux or windows)
on my home lan.
prob:
i can print fine the linux machines, but i had to use the kde print manager to
get it working, cuz i couldn't figure out what to put for the URI via the web
interface. the printer shows up in windows when i "add a printer", but i
have to install the drivers locally. once the printer is installed in
windows, it won't print. it says "not connected", "printer unreachable" or
something of the like.
whats wrong? also, is there a way where i can add the printer on a windows
machine without installing the drivers locally?
thanks for the help,
christopher
P.S. i'm using winxp and win2k and redhat 7.3
