This somewhat cryptic error means that mount didn't find /sbin/mount.smbfs
so it mounted anyway, to which smbfs complains.

/sbin/mount.smbfs should be a symlink to smbmount, and smbmnt should be in
your samba "BINDIR" or in /usr/bin. If you installed samba yourself,
perhaps you didn't configure --with-smbmount because the samba install 
scripts set things up correctly.

Otherwise check if you installed all samba rpms (or whatever) and that you
have smbmount and smbmnt installed.
