On the contrary, I can't see how unsubscribing could be made any easier.  
Goto the following URL and scroll down to the bottom and input yout email 
address in the field next to the Edit Options, under the Samba 
Subscribers section.  http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba

What did you expect when you joined the mailing list?  No messages?
