C compiler

Once we've compiled & installed Samba, will we still need a C compiler on
our machine or does Samba just need it initially?  Reason I ask is that we
used a 60-day "try & buy" C compiler from IBM just for this install, and we
have no other use for a compiler at the moment (they've put the clamp on
our budget so we can't make any unnecessary purchases).  Thanks for your
advice.
