smbpasswd failed ..... "password is invalid"

I tried to change my user password with "smbpasswd" expecting it to also
change my UNIX password ( see smb.conf excerpt below ), but it failed:


$ smbpasswd
INFO: Debug class all level = 3   (pid 12392 from pid 12392)
