Problem w. browse lists across router

Hey all!

This should be easy, I know, but in spite of apparently doing everything
the way it ought to be according to what I've found on the net it
doesn't work.

I have two subnets, let call them A (196.39.156.65/26) and B
(192.168.1.0/24) where A is real and B is (obviously) private.

I'm using Win NT 4.0 SP5 server & workstations with 5 SAMBA servers on
subnet A.

Now, everything was on subnet A but we started running out of IP
addresses so I created B, a new private subnet for our little student
lab.

Initially there was a PDC & BDC both on subnet A, then I moved the BDC
along with some clients to subnet B.
Also, there was only 1 DHCP server on the same machine that was the WINS
server and PDC.

I then created a DHCP server on subnet B and all was working OK, in so
far as when I went to a client on subnet B and ran IPCONFIG /ALL it
listed all the right info including the WINS server. All clients are
configured to use the same WINS server, on subnet A.

The router is a FreeBSD machine.

At this point if on any machine (including the BDC) on subnet B I did a
net view \\fred where fred was on subnet A it told me there was no such
computer. On the other hand since netbios resultion thru DNS was enabled
I could do a net view \\fred.sanbi.ac.za and it'd work no problem.

So, I then configured a WINS server on the BDC on subnet B. This is
replicating fine with the one on the PDC on subnet A as verified by
selecting "show database" in the WINS manager.

Then, the on subnet B net view \\fred worked where fred was on A, but
still only subnet A machines in the browse list on subnet A and ditto
for B.

Where to from here?

I do have some SAMBA servers as well, but only on subnet A and I've
since added
        wins server = 196.38.142.116
        remote announce = 192.168.2.255/SANBI
        local master = no

to their smb.conf files, as some were wining elections as shown in the
event logs of the PDC on subnet A and this is no longer happening.

The remote announce thing isn't working either.

Any and all help much appreciated!
