[Samba] umlaut character in username

Hi,
were are trying to use the external Squid authenticator smb_auth (a wrapper 
to smbclient) to authentciate proxy users off a Windows NT Domain. This 
works well for ordinary users but fails for users that have an umlaut (e.g. 
ü, 0xfc) in their username.

A network trace shows that the umlaut character in the session setup & X 
request is changed to 0x00b3. Might that be an error in the conversion to 
Unicode done in dos_PutUniCode?
