[Samba] win98 vs win2k client performance

We are running MS Visual Source Safe (file sharing for a database...
ugh) on a Samba server. Strangely, there is a huge performance
difference between 98 and 2k - 98 clients are about ten times faster
on VSS operations than 2k clients. I tested it on 2 different 98
machines and 3 different 2k machines.

One of the 98 machines is a win4lin session on a p3 450; and it is
ten times faster than the >1ghz athlon with win 2k.

Any idea what kind of parameters I can change to make the 2k
machines catch up to the 98 clients' performance?

Thanks,
Mark Lehrer
