everything was perfect and then...

I don't know what happened, but I had smbd running fine for the past month
and now I can't restart the service...

After manually starting smbd and nmbd, with no errors reported...I check ps
-A and they don't appear to be running,

smbstatus returns this...

smbstatus
Unknown parameter encountered: "share modes"
Ignoring unknown parameter "share modes"
Unknown parameter encountered: "share modes"
Ignoring unknown parameter "share modes"
connections.tdb not initialised

now share modes is in my smb.conf file as it has been all along...did
something change? I use the following for NT Domain logons

[homes]
   guest ok = yes
   read only = no
   oplocks = false
   locking = no

 [netlogon]
   comment = Network Logon Service
   path = /home/samba/netlogon
   guest ok = yes
   writable = no
   share modes = no

thanks
