locking ? problems (follow up to: strange problems)

Ok I will give this a try,

although I have the same problems on two machines running different  kernels
(one is a SuSE 7.2 Kernel 2.4.4 and the other is a SuSE 7.3 kernel 2.4.10)
Maybe there is a problem with the SuSE Kernels.

I'll give it a shot with a 2.4.16er Kernel and keep you updated.
