Win2k-->Linux-->Epson777 (smb.conf + /etc/printcap included)

I don't have a solution, but I do want to keep this thread alive until
we get it resolved. I'm in the same situation. I can print fine, but
it says that annoying message. Do you guys print to an LPD unix queue?
My linux print server is sending the job to a LPD linux box that is
connected to the printer local. (Our printer support requires it that
way).
Has anyone been able to determine anything? Perhaps Microsoft is trying
to break samba by changing it's implementation. I wouldn't put it past
them...

At Tue, 20 Nov 2001 it looks like Chris composed:

Yes, I have my wife and my sister in law both with Windows2000
machines on the network here at the home and all they want to do is
print and can't understand (and neither do I) why they can't. I have
two queue's on the system too so I can try both.
I have rechecked all the users with reissuing their "smbpasswd
<user>" etc also.
And once again this is an Epson 777 Color Injet that works great
while plugged into my lan with a "mini" printserver attached to the
rear of the printer with the static IP address of 192.168.1.99
