Check the state of your NIC under DOS..
maybe if you have the NIC in full duplex and the media only support half duplex you have this issue...
try putting the NIC in half duplex.
that´s because Windows auto-sense the negotiation and DOS read the configuration from your NIC´s ROM.

  I have noticed that my writes from a DOS tcp/ip client (for Ghost) to my RH7.0 server running Samba 2.2.2 are insanely slow.  This is almost 30 times slower than my reads.  I have tried altering raw writes as seen in the archives of this very list but this did not help.  

  I really am shooting to replace windows for this task and the slow reads are the only thing stopping me from deploying this application.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
