issues with version 2.2.2

The main problem we've had so far is that compared to good ole 1.9.18p10,
the RAM footprint is nearly doubled - is that other people's impression
too? We're seeing 2.5 to 3 mb on 1.9 against best part of 5mb on 2.2.2 on
Solaris 8.

Are we doing something wrong?
