smbadduser gone? or custom?

Once again I am not sure if this was some custom script for a Redhat install
that I had previously, or incorporated into another command. I know that you
can smbpasswd -a to add a user to the password file, is this now the
universal smbusers file as well? Or did the smbadduser come from somewhere
else and is just a utility?
