Whats all this Linux business anyway?

It might be a name resolution issue. Do you have reverse DNS running for
your network, or are all your workstations listed in /etc/hosts? Do you have
hosts allow set in the SMB configuration (which causes name resolution to be
attempted on connect)?

While we're on this subject, my only wish is that I could figure out why
win2000
is so slow accessing the samba shares on my linux boxes. The linux desktops
are 100 times faster accessing the win2000 shares!

Maybe I should just run all linux desktops ;-)

Have you ever noticed? Anybody going slower than you is an idiot,
and anyone going faster than you is a maniac.
