W2k, Samba and offline files/folders

Hi !

I have a problem using Windows 2000 offline files/folders on a W2k
Professional notebook (client) connected to a Samba 2.0.7 server
(Linux):
A user's home directory resides on the Linux server. It is mounted as
drive H: and made available offline (including subfolders) on the
notebook.

During synchronisation (at logon/logoff), Windows creates lots of new
folders (on the network server), all empty and with very strange
names: 0, 1, 2, a, o, k, ?, á, ú, and so on.

When synchronizing during logoff, Windows states that a folder called
"\\server\share\E:\." no longer exists on the server and asks whether
the offline copy should be deleted too. But the is and has never been
a drive E: on the notebook :-(

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem ?
