some probs with samba

Hi,

I hv samba 2.0.6 in my machine and i had downloaded the latest release 
2.0.7 and followed the instructions (like ./configure etc frm source dir) 
for installing but still if i query using rpm -q samba it shows me the old 
release.

With both the version I'm unable to share files from the Linux machine to 
win9x clients but from the Linux server I'm able to access them.can u 
kindly guide me?
