Sun Solaris 5.8 Beta-Refresh i386

Samba 2.0.5a worked great on my earlier Sun Solaris 7 (5.7) Intel version.
But with Solaris 8 (5.8), smbstatus reports that root did not create the
semaphore; failed initialize share modes . . . .

Is there a samba version out there that has been tested on above platform?
And if so, where.  Thanks much.
