Odd...I just sucessfully installed a Win2K connection to a Samba
2.0.7/LPRng printer in the usual way for connecting to network
print services. There was an error logged by smbd, but it works.

[2000/08/11 17:57:07, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(550)
  gwi53 (167.116.93.99) connect to service LaserJet 4Si
  as user jimw (uid=428, gid=100) (pid 28933)
[2000/08/11 17:57:08, 0] smbd/nttrans.c:call_nt_transact_ioctl(2516)
  call_nt_transact_ioctl: Currently not implemented.
[2000/08/11 17:58:29, 1] smbd/service.c:close_cnum(583)
gwi53 (167.116.93.99) closed connection to service LaserJet 4Si

That was from a Win2K workstation with Service Pack 1 installed.
