	The symptom was unacceptably slow opening of Word
	and Excel files: when we looked at the smb logs,
	the client was repeatedly opening and closing the file,
	eih times in one case, before fianlly leaving it
	open and proceeding to read it.

	Because it was specific to Word/Excel, the possibility
	of extra protocols didn't come up initially, even though
	that's known to cause "mysterious" errors.

	ALWAYS remove extra protocols, folks!
