Shared memory problems

Hello again. I wanted to thank the people who have answered some of my
questions over the past couple of days. I think that there is progress
being made perhaps. I posted a couple of notes yesterday regarding the
lack of a STATUS..LCK file. On the advice of a recipient of this list, I
tried:

touch /usr/lock/samba/STATUS..LCK

Afterwards, I tried the following and was greeted with this error message.


[jpickeri at utct2166 jpickeri]$ smbstatus

Samba version 2.0.4b
Service      uid      gid      pid     machine
----------------------------------------------

ERROR smb_shm_open : open failed with code No such file or directory
ERROR: Failed to initialise share modes!
Can't initialise shared memory - exiting
[jpickeri at utct2166 jpickeri]$ smbclient -L utct2166
read_with_timeout: timeout read. read error = Broken pipe.
session request to UTCT2166 failed
read_with_timeout: timeout read. read error = Broken pipe.
session request to *SMBSERVER failed
[jpickeri at utct2166 jpickeri]$
