Case sensitive passwords in win95? Possible?

I'm finding a large amount of cpu time on my DU4.0D boxes when win95
clients attempt a login. I'm guessing that the large percentage is due to
crypting the password presented to Samba by the client for the many
iterations defined by "password level" (mine's set to 8). I guess one way
to reduce the load would be to configure win95 so that it does not
uppercase the entire password, but send it in the case that the user typed
it in in the first place. This way, I can set "password level" to 0.

Anyone know of a way to do this, or is this wishful thinking?

Thanks.
