Possible Bug in samba versions beyond 1.9.17

I have recently upgraded samba 1.9.17 to samba 1.9.18p4 (and then
p7) on a Sun Datacenter 2000 running Solaris 2.5.1. After the upgrade,
NT 3.5.1 clients do not display all of the directories and files on a
samba share when using file manager or the "file manager" type
functionality within applications like MS-Powerpoint. These same
directories and files also do not show up in a "dir" listing within a
command window set to the same share. These directories and files can
in fact be accessed from the share (e.g. a "cd \directory_name" will
take you into "directory_name" if you happen to know it is there).
This problem did not occur with 1.9.17 nor does it occur with NT 4.0
clients using either version.

Both versions (1.9.17 and 1.9.18pxx) are run with security = server
and the password server set to the domain PDC ( NT Server). Both have
been built from source using Sun C version 3.0 as well as GCC 2.7.0.

I thought I would post this problem to the list before filing a bug
report on the chance that the problem is due to my ignorance rather than
a bug. Has anyone seen this behavior before?

                Thanks!
