If I remember correctly then Elektra is something vaguely
resembling the Windows registry data model. It might be an
alternative to attempt writing an Elektra-based backend for
the Samba registry. That is not yet a cleanly modular
interface, but Samba can already store its configuration in
its registry. Right now this registry configuration is not
(yet) correctly modularized, and putting in Elektra into all
the places where the registry configuration is hooked in
seems a bit flaky to me.

Eventually we will have a clean libsmbconf interface that
should be easily pluggable, but at this moment it might be
better to hide behind the registry API.
