Samba and OpenVPN: where are file access delays coming from?

You'l need to do a wireshark trace either on the client or the server and wee what the client is actually doing that takes so long.

Hi fellow Samba'ers,

I just can't figure out what is the problem here. I have set up OpenVPN
which nicely connects, no issues here. 
I can mount the Samba shares through the VPN and browse through the folders
with an acceptable delay.

- And here come the delays - But when I want to cut / paste a file, or view
its properties, massive delays occurs depending largely on the file's size:
it appears the entire file has to be downloaded just to view the properties
