Winbind ldap failover configuration

Does anybody have winbind working properly with an LDAP idmapping with 
failover?

I have been trying this for some time without success.

ie:
idmap backend = ldap:ldap://ldap1 ldap:ldap://ldap2

When I take down the first ldap server (ldap1), no failover occurs.  I 
get the same error as if the second ldap server did not exist in the config.
