Could you please file a bug on this at https://bugzilla.samba.org/ ?

I know someone else brought this up before & I took a look into it at 
the time.  I made some progress, but I don't remember exactly where I 
ended up.  Obviously I didn't solve the problem or I would have 
submitted a patch :)

Filing bugs on issues such as this (which might seem like a small issue) 
helps ensure they're tracked and don't get forgotten in the vast sea of 
e-mail.
