You could potentially host the filesystem component of a GPO on a SAMBA
server by modifying the gPCFileSysPath atribute of the GPO entry in AD.
eg:
monk:/sunra/Users/lukeh# ldapsearch -LLL -x objectclass=groupPolicyContainer GpcFileSysPath
dn: cn={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},cn=Policies,cn=System,dc=off,dc=
padl,dc=com
gPCFileSysPath: \\off.padl.com\sysvol\off.padl.com\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D
2-945F-00C04FB984F9}
You could change \\off.padl.com to \\samba-server.off.padl.com, where
samba-server is a member of the AD domain.
cheers,
