same thing happened here
[server-side]
-SuSE Linux 7.2 (gcc-2.95.3)
-self-compiled linus kernel patched with xfs
(linux-2.4.6-xfs-07052001.patch.bz2) form SGI for acl-support
-samba-2.2.1a self-compiled
./configure --prefix=/usr --libdir=/etc --with-privatedir=/etc/samba \
--with-configdir=/etc/samba --localstatedir=/var/lock/samba \
--with-codepagedir=/usr/lib/samba/codepages --sbindir=/usr/sbin \
--with-pam --with-smbmount --with-syslog --with-utmp \
--with-quotas --with-msdfs --with-acl-support --mandir=%{_mandir} \
--with-swatdir=/usr/lib/samba/swat \
--with-sambabook=/usr/lib/samba/swat/using_samba
make LOCKDIR=/var/lock/samba
make proto
make all nsswitch/libnss_wins.so
#make all nsswitch/pam_winbind.so (avail. only HEAD CVS so far)
make debug2html
make bin/smbspool
#make -C ../examples/VFS/ (seems broken)
[client-side]
-Windows 98se (US) in User-level access control
-with Windows NT Server Tools (nexus) #path is c:\srvtools !
-with Network Monitor Agent (is service)
-with Remote Regetry (is service)
-with RPC Print Provider (is service)

the level 10 debug is very heavy, therefor it is not included here.
i would prefer to post it for the developers-only (privat), not on the
public ml.
my first try was as normal user and the second was as root ;
no success.

PS: parameters such as -add share command- in smb.conf are not
set. i hope these are not mandatory to get this to work.
