2) As of 3.0.9 this functionality seems not to be integrated in the main
distribution, as my testing in my previous comment shows, but through patching
it seems to be possible

Downloaded 3.0.7 and applied the patch "fileflags.diff" (among others) and then
comments seem to get properly synced.
