hi all

i installed a new version of rsync on an old solaris machine we have around.
an old rsync was running before, but now neither is running, both
complaining about dependencies,
even though the compiling & install went fine, you can see the error i get
below when i try to run it.

la3000# rsync
ld.so.1: rsync: fatal: libpopt.so.0: open failed: No such file or directory
Killed

so i checked dependencies, and found 2 that were not found.

la3000# ldd /usr/local/bin/rsync
        libpopt.so.0 =>  (file not found)
        libsec.so.1 =>   /usr/lib/libsec.so.1
        libiconv.so.2 =>         (file not found)
        libresolv.so.2 =>        /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2
        libsocket.so.1 =>        /usr/lib/libsocket.so.1
        libnsl.so.1 =>   /usr/lib/libnsl.so.1
        libc.so.1 =>     /usr/lib/libc.so.1
        libdl.so.1 =>    /usr/lib/libdl.so.1
        libmp.so.2 =>    /usr/lib/libmp.so.2
        /usr/platform/SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise/lib/libc_psr.so.1

but this seems weird since they both are on the box

la3000# locate ld.so.1
/usr/lib/ld.so.1
/etc/lib/ld.so.1

and i modified the path to find them, just in case that was an issue.

la3000# echo $PATH                                  #(parsed)
/usr/local/lib:
/sybase/Acrobat3/bin:
/usr/ccs/bin:
/export/home/opt/GCC281/bin:
/sybase/websql/sybase/bin:
/usr/etc/appletalk:
/opt/VRTSvxva/bin:
/opt/SUNWsymon/bin:
/usr/openwin/bin:
/bin:
/usr/bin:
/usr/ucb:
/usr/sbin:
/sybase/microsoft/ie4/bin:
.:
/src/web/acroread/bin:
/usr/opt/SUNWmd/bin:
/usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin:
/usr/local/bin:
/usr/local/sbin

so now, i'm not sure what to do... i must be missing something rather
obvious and key.

any ideas?
