I am curious about whether a tweak to the way --bwlimit is implemented (e.g.,
moving the sleep_for_bwlimit call *before* the write in writefd_unbuffered, or
perhaps lowering bwlimit_writemax) would make it a more effective workaround. 
I encourage anyone who is running up against the hang to do the rest of us a
favor by investigating this.
