rsync adding bytes to file

Hi,
 
        I am new to using rsync and I am running it from windows 2000
machine.
 
        When I am transferring files, it adds a few Kbytes to the
destination file and the file won't open. At first I thought it might be
the binary or ascii mode of transfer creating a problem, but I couldnt
find any option in rsync command line or the .conf file to change the
transfer mode. so I am assuming that it is the binary mode which is what
I need. Is that correct?
 
       Does anybody have any idea why it might be doing this? Am I
missing some option?
