Multi-Stage sync?

Is there away to just generate the differences?  When
using the --write-batch option the system you sync
with still gets sync'd along with the --write-batch
files being generated to be sent and applied to other
systems. 

I need this to work in 2 stages, rsync between machine
a and machine b and only generate the differences. 
Later I'll send those to machine b and apply them via
--read-batch.
