Problem copying >2GB files on HP-UX 11i with rsync 2.5.6

I will re-run the test and capture the error message. The test was performed
no the same system. I was copying a file from one filesystem to another and
both filesystems were set to "largefiles". Thank you for the information.

The error message you report has nothing to do with
largefiles.  It indicates that the receiver process (a
child) died.  There should be another error message above
this from the receiver.
