A very interesting thread.
And, thanks, Scott F for the excellent list below.

I used to favour KDE varietals of Linux, then went to Ubuntu BUT installed
Kubuntu (KDE desktop). For a while, now, I've used 'straight' Ubuntu, but
still hanker after the "more like M$" KDE as I'm [still] forced to us M$ at
work.

Thank you, all, for giving me the kick to again try KDE.
