If you want an introduction to Python there are many online resources.

I suggest you try:

The material that Paul is going to be covering is probably a little more
advanced than these introductory courses will cover, so once you get
through them working through the George has provided would also be an
excellent idea.

Unfortunately, the nature of what Paul will be discussing is not aimed at
Python novices and may be difficult to follow if you are not already
familiar with Python.  This is the nature of the more technically advanced
talks we get at CLUG. I often find myself struggling with some of the more
technical talks, but I (almost) always learn something even if I didn't
understand everything.
