[clug] ADSL modem woes

I've been helping a friend move into the light, and I want to set up
remote access via krfb.

Problem is that I can't connect to her Telstra ADSL modem, nor can I
even ping it, though she can ping me. I can't see anyhing in the modem
settings that would be blocking ping responses or remote connections.

Does anyone have any ideas?
