I've been told it doesn't rely on the electricity supply in your house.
I can't test that because my only handset *does* rely on electricity in
my house.
The guys who installed mine didn't disconnect the power or mess with the
fuse box, so I can't see how they could possibly have hooked it up to
electric power anywhere in my house.
The local node may or may not have some kind of UPS, so I don't know how
widespread a power outage would need to be to disrupt phone service. But
that also goes for the standard copper phone lines - telephone exchanges
need power to operate, and I don't know if they have UPS either.
