Hi Michael,
Sometimes (often?) the kernel parameter "acpi_sleep" must be tweaked for
video to resume correctly. See the file "Documentation/power/video.txt"
in the kernel sources for more details. That file also mentions some
userspace programs that some people also require to re-post their video
bios etc.
