I have somone who just switched from redhat to debian by my influence
and cannot seem to get samba to work properly since.

Probably because Version 3 is being used (and that is mainly to do with
group permissions seems to work with)

The original smb.conf file doesn't seem to work quite right anymore.

He will offer a meal for a quick look over to see why profiles won't
work when a Windoze NT 4 workstation tries to authenticate.
If payment is preferred, we will pay a few bucks or so for the effort.

Can you please email me back direct if you are keen to volunteer and I
will get you in touch with him.

Just background on the purpose of server:
Canberra College network with staff and student access where staff have full
access and students restricted. Roaming profiles and policies. Network
printing as well.

It shouldn't take no longer than 10 to 15 minutes if you are very
expierenced in samba and this guy is clued up on the rest (I hope)
